Resumo

This study compares three Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) projects that utilize Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), evaluating them across five key requirements: privacy, security, scalability, operational resiliency, and interoperability. This comparison is based on a literature review and interviews with Computer Science experts. Among the main findings, we found that the project prioritizing security demonstrates the most favorable outcomes. As its main contribution, this study provides a set of practical subsides that may be potentially applied for project evaluation regarding the deployment of CBDC sysstems. Lastly, this article ends with general conclusions and key directions for future research.
